A 22-year-old man accused of stealing an Elepaq generating set was on Tuesday sentenced to one year imprisonment with hard labour by an Edo State Magistrate’s Court at Egor, Benin.
The man, identified as Kingsley Friday, pleaded guilty to the two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing preferred on him.
Prosecutor Osayomwanbor Omoruyi told the court that Friday, with others at large, committed the offence at about 10 pm at No. 9 Igiedo Str., Uselu Quarters, Benin, on October 16.
Omoruyi said the accused stole one Elepaq generating set valued N25, 000, belonging to Victor Oghenekone.
He said the offence contravened sections 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code.
The Magistrates, Mrs Igho Braimoh,in her ruling, sentenced the convict to 12 months imprisonment, after he pleaded for leniency.
