Bastian Schweinsteiger’s move away from Manchester United looks to be edging closer with the retired Germany international banned from playing for United’s under-23 side, according to the Mirror.
The £170,000-a-week midfielder has been frozen out by Mourinho and was not named in United’s 25-man squad for the Premier League this season.
He is not even required for duty on Thursday nights after he was omitted from the Europa League squad as well.
Schweinsteiger, 32, was also left out of the team photo for the current campaign and has not played since March.
Reserve boss Warren Joyce had asked Jose Mourinho to play Schweinsteiger in the U23 Premier League, but Mourinho refused the request, with the 32-year-old midfielder not being able to feature for any United side.
he president of the Bundesliga champions, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, said earlier this year. “I could hardly believe it. One or two players are going to think long and hard in future about whether they want to go to such a club.
“Nothing like that has ever happened at Bayern Munich.”
