A Draw Against Algeria Will Not Be A Bad Result- Mikel Obi Tells Nigerians (Do You Agree With Him?)



Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi has said that the national team will do every thing within their power to ensure that they do not lose the home game against their counterparts from Algeria in the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier taking place this weekend.

Mikel who spoke to journalists shortly after the team’s first light work out at the Practice Pitch of the Abuja National Stadium stated that the encounter will be very tactical adding that both sides will attempt to dig deep in their arsenal to undo the other.

According to him, the team is aiming to cement its position in the group by defeating Algeria; even as he added that securing a draw will not be a bad result after all.

“The team looks very energetic, we defend well, the midfield is very compact and we have a very sharp attack that can upset any defence.

We will play to our own strength; they too will play to their own strength. The game is going to be very tactical and so we have to be very careful; we want to win really but a draw will not be a bad result.”

The Chelsea of England midfielder further revealed that with the enthusiasm among the players in camp, they stand a very bright chance of getting the desired result because the now play like a team and will like to remain focused.

“We are doing things well, we play like a team and it is like one family in camp, that is how we operate and we want to remain focused, Algeria is a very good side but we will target the three points at stake and with the blend of experience and youthfulness, we can achieve the desired result” Mikel concluded.

The team is expected to depart Abuja for Uyo, venue of the cracker on Thursday via a chartered flight.
