A substitute teacher has been arrested by the police and charged with having s*x with two teenage students at her home in Acworth last year. Laura Rich, 38, from Georgia was taken into custody Friday on two counts of $exual assault by a teacher, a report by Dailymail reveals.
According to investigators the woman who was employed as a substitute teacher at Ace Academy in Canton until last month, had allegedly had s*x with a 16-year-old student after starting a $exual relationship in early 2015.
Later that year, according to police, Rich had another $exual encounter with an 18-year-old student at her home in Cedarl Mill Drive in Acworth, reported Atlanta Journal Constitution.
The victims’ genders have not been publicly disclosed. Cherokee County School District notified police about the alleged relationships.
School district spokeswoman Barbara Jacoby told the paper that Rich’s last day as a teacher was August 19, and she has since been barred from working as a substitute teacher anywhere in Cherokee County.
‘Our School District has zero tolerance for inappropriate relationships between students and any adults serving in any capacity in our schools,’ Jacoby said in a statement.
Rich was booked into Cherokee County Detention Center on Friday and was released the same day after posting $22, 400 bond.
